The Company This opportunity is with a growing electrical engineering and manufacturing company based in Strabane, Co. Tyrone. The business specialises in the design and production of advanced electrical infrastructure including LV switchgear systems, modular electrical SKIDs and E-House solutions used across energy, industrial and technology sectors.
With continued investment in its modern engineering and manufacturing facilities, the company is expanding its Energi Division and strengthening its electrical engineering team to support a growing pipeline of projects across the UK and Ireland.
The Role – Electrical Engineer The Electrical Engineer will take responsibility for the technical design and development of LV switchgear systems, supporting the engineering team in delivering high quality electrical infrastructure solutions.
Working closely with estimators, project coordinators and manufacturing teams, you will oversee technical design, support electrical engineering standards and contribute to the development of reliable, safe and compliant switchgear systems.
This role also offers the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and support the continued growth of the electrical engineering team.
Key Responsibilities • Leading the technical design of LV switchgear systems based on project requirements
• Supporting estimators and project coordinators with technical guidance during project development
• Assisting in the development of standard electrical designs and engineering documentation
• Ensuring electrical designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations
• Carrying out protection coordination studies and relay setting calculations
• Performing arc flash hazard analysis and ensuring electrical safety compliance
• Supporting installation and commissioning activities where required
• Mentoring and developing junior electrical engineers and technicians
• Collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams to deliver high quality electrical systems
About You • Degree, HND or HNC in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience in electrical switchgear engineering including design, installation or commissioning
• Strong knowledge of electrical protection systems, relay coordination and arc flash analysis
• Strong technical understanding of LV power distribution systems
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills
• High attention to detail and commitment to engineering standards
• Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office
• Experience using AutoCAD, SEE Electrical or EPLAN would be advantageous
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering team
