This established engineering contractor is one of Ireland’s leading providers of water, wastewater, clean technology, and MEICA solutions. Operating across Ireland, the UK, and Northern Europe, the business delivers complex infrastructure projects for municipal and industrial clients while maintaining a strong reputation for engineering excellence, innovation, and project delivery.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join their senior leadership team based in Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo.

The Role: Contracts Manager

This is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the delivery of multiple MEICA contracts throughout the West and North West of Ireland.

You will lead project teams from contract award through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and final handover while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Working closely with clients, Project Managers, engineers, subcontractors, and the senior management team, you will play a key role in driving project performance, commercial success, and business growth.

Must Have Requirements
  • Must have a Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience required in a Contracts Manager, Senior Project Manager, or similar leadership role.
  • Strong experience delivering MEICA, water, wastewater, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple project teams and contract delivery programmes.
  • Strong commercial and contractual management experience.
  • Full Irish driving licence.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience within municipal water and wastewater treatment projects.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation systems.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong client-facing and stakeholder management experience.
  • Experience supporting business growth and strategic planning initiatives.
Nice to Have
  • Mechanical or Electrical trade background.
  • Knowledge of process treatment technologies.
  • Experience with off-site manufacturing and modern methods of construction.
  • Professional membership with Engineers Ireland or equivalent.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the successful delivery of MEICA contracts throughout the West and North West region.
  • Manage all aspects of water and wastewater pumping stations, treatment plants, and associated infrastructure projects.
  • Review tender submissions and develop delivery strategies following contract award.
  • Support the transition from tendering through to project delivery teams.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to Project Managers, Engineers, and site teams.
  • Monitor project programmes, resources, and commercial performance across multiple contracts.
  • Coordinate regular contract review meetings and project performance reviews.
  • Support procurement activities, subcontractor negotiations, and supply chain management.
  • Oversee commercial matters throughout project delivery and assist with resolving contractual issues.
  • Ensure monthly invoicing and financial targets are achieved.
  • Coordinate project activities from design development through commissioning and final handover.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, local authorities, and key stakeholders.
  • Review engineering reports, commissioning plans, and project documentation.
  • Ensure robust health, safety, quality, and environmental standards are maintained across all projects.
  • Support strategic planning and future business growth initiatives.
  • Attend senior management and leadership meetings as part of the wider contracts team.
About You

You are an experienced Contracts Manager or Senior Project Manager with a strong background in MEICA, water, wastewater, utilities, or infrastructure projects.

You enjoy leading teams, building client relationships, solving complex project challenges, and driving successful project outcomes.

You are commercially aware, technically competent, and capable of managing multiple contracts while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, programme, and profitability.
