This established engineering contractor specialises in the delivery of water, wastewater, clean technology, and infrastructure projects across Ireland, the UK, and Northern Europe.
With a growing portfolio of municipal and industrial water treatment projects secured through long-term framework agreements, the company continues to expand its project delivery team to support critical infrastructure projects nationwide.
Due to continued growth and recent contract awards, they are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join their team based in Mallow, Co Cork.
The Role: Assistant Project Manager
This role is ideally suited to an experienced Project Engineer, Site Engineer, MEICA Engineer, or Project Coordinator looking to progress into project management within the water, wastewater, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you will support the successful delivery of projects from contract award through to commissioning, handover, and project closeout.
Working closely with clients, design teams, site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers, you will gain exposure to all aspects of project delivery including design management, procurement, planning, commercial support, commissioning, and stakeholder management.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing engineering contractor delivering critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects across Ireland.

Must Have Requirements
- Third-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a Project Engineer, Site Engineer, Project Coordinator, or similar role.
- Experience working on infrastructure, utilities, industrial, construction, or MEICA projects.
- Strong organisational, planning, and communication skills.
- Full Irish or EU driving licence.
- Experience within water, wastewater, utilities, or process engineering environments.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and civil project delivery.
- Experience supporting project planning, procurement, and commissioning activities.
- Understanding of project controls, cost tracking, and reporting.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and site activities.
- Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes.
- Experience using Microsoft Project or similar planning software.
- Exposure to tendering and pre-construction activities.
- Familiarity with CAD or BIM software.
- Assist the Project Manager in delivering projects safely, on programme, within budget, and to specification.
- Support the coordination of design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Monitor design progress and coordinate project deliverables including GA drawings, P&IDs, PFDs, schematics, and technical submissions.
- Assist with procurement of subcontractors, equipment, and materials.
- Support project planning activities, programme updates, and progress reporting.
- Attend site meetings, client meetings, and project coordination meetings.
- Monitor project costs and assist with valuations, change management, and commercial reporting.
- Coordinate site activities alongside supervisors, subcontractors, and project teams.
- Support implementation of health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Assist with preparation of commissioning documentation, technical files, O&M manuals, and handover records.
- Support commissioning activities and client training during project completion phases.
- Provide regular project updates and progress reports to senior management.
- Assist with tendering activities, programme development, and technical submissions where required.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
