Based in Co Cork, this role will support major projects throughout the region. Current projects include pharmaceutical and aviation developments, although project assignments may change depending on programme requirements and future project awards.
The Role: Mechanical Lead – Major Projects
This is a senior leadership position responsible for leading the mechanical side of the M&E team across major construction projects.
Reporting to senior project and operational leadership, the Mechanical Lead will oversee the delivery of mechanical building services packages from design development through installation, commissioning and project handover. You will work closely with Project Managers, Design Teams, Commercial Teams and specialist subcontractors to ensure all mechanical works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme requirements.
The Mechanical Lead will play a key role in driving quality, technical compliance, programme performance and successful project delivery across a range of sectors including pharmaceutical, aviation, healthcare, commercial and industrial construction.
Must Have Requirements
You are an experienced Mechanical Lead, Mechanical Project Manager, Building Services Manager or Senior Mechanical Engineer with a strong track record delivering large-scale construction projects.
You have excellent technical knowledge, strong leadership capability and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders while maintaining focus on programme, quality and safety. You are comfortable managing complex mechanical packages and have the experience required to drive successful project outcomes across a range of project types.

Must Have Requirements
- Must have 8 to 10 years' experience within mechanical building services, MEP or construction project delivery
- Proven experience required managing mechanical packages on large-scale construction projects
- Experience with a main contractor, specialist mechanical contractor or major developer is required
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, pipework, plantrooms and mechanical building services systems
- Proven ability to lead project teams and coordinate subcontractors throughout project delivery
- Pharmaceutical project experience preferred
- Aviation, healthcare, industrial or commercial project experience beneficial
- Experience overseeing commissioning and handover processes
- BIM coordination and digital construction platform experience advantageous
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project cost management
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or related discipline
- Chartered Engineer status or membership of a recognised professional body
- Experience working within live operational environments
- Knowledge of sustainable building technologies and energy-efficient systems
- Lead the mechanical delivery of major construction projects from pre-construction through to handover
- Manage and coordinate mechanical subcontractors, suppliers and specialist contractors
- Review drawings, technical submissions and specifications to ensure compliance and buildability
- Coordinate closely with electrical, CSA, design and commissioning teams
- Drive programme delivery and identify potential risks before they impact project milestones
- Ensure all mechanical installations meet project specifications and quality standards
- Support procurement activities and review equipment and material selections
- Monitor project progress and provide regular reporting to senior management
- Lead mechanical coordination meetings and drive resolution of technical issues
- Oversee testing, commissioning and final handover of mechanical systems
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety requirements across mechanical works
- Support commercial teams with variations, scope reviews and change management
