Your new planning team in Glasgow are expanding and are looking an experienced Senior Project Planner to support the delivery of high voltage (HV) substation and transmission projects (110kV–400kV).
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge of electrical infrastructure builds who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You’ll work closely with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams to ensure programmes are accurate, risk-aware, and deliverable.

Senior Planner Skills:
- Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a strong trades background with relevant technical expertise.
- 5+ years’ planning experience within energy, utilities, or HV/MV substation projects.
- In-depth understanding of HV/MV construction methods and sequencing.
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 (mandatory). Familiarity with Power BI is advantageous.
- Solid knowledge of NEC or FIDIC contracts and earned value principles.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to lead planning discussions, influence decision-making, and drive collaboration across project teams.
As a Senior Planner:
- Provide high-quality planning support to project managers.
- Mentor and guide junior planners where needed.
- Review contract documentation and identify scheduling and reporting requirements.
- Develop detailed construction schedules from high-level targets and WBS inputs.
- Support negotiations and programme alignment with client teams.
- Resource- and cost-load schedules based on hours and quantities provided by the commercial team.
- Create project trackers and reporting templates to monitor progress.
- Integrate construction schedules with main contractor and internal project teams.
- Track weekly progress and validate with commercial teams every 2–3 weeks.
- Highlight risks, roadblocks, and recovery options in real time.
- Develop and manage Level 1–4 programmes using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Identify critical path activities and potential constraints across project phases.
- Provide early warnings and corrective measures for schedule slippage.
- Lead programme reporting for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Support tender and bid planning for upcoming projects.
- Collaborate with design, procurement, and site delivery teams to keep schedules realistic and aligned.
