The Role: Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor

This Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor role will see you take full commercial ownership of a major mechanical package on a flagship data centre project in Finsterwalde, Germany.

Working closely with the Commercial Manager, Project Manager and wider project team, you will manage all commercial and contractual matters from procurement through to final account. You will play a key role in protecting project margin, managing risk and ensuring the successful commercial delivery of the project.

The successful Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor will have strong experience within mechanical or M&E contracting and will be comfortable operating in a client-facing environment on technically complex construction projects.

Must Have Requirements

  • Must have proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within Mechanical or M&E contracting
  • Experience delivering data centre, pharmaceutical, life sciences or mission critical projects is required
  • Strong commercial and contractual management experience required
  • Proven experience managing subcontractor procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts
  • Experience working directly with clients, consultants and senior project stakeholders
Preferred Experience

  • Previous European project experience
  • Large-scale mechanical package experience
  • Experience within data centre construction
  • Strong understanding of contract administration and change management
Nice to Have

  • Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or related discipline
  • Additional commercial or contract management qualifications
  • Knowledge of FIDIC contract forms
  • Experience with commercial reporting software
Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the commercial and contractual requirements of the project
  • Act as the primary commercial interface with client commercial and contract teams
  • Manage procurement activities for mechanical subcontractors and suppliers
  • Prepare accurate project forecasts, budgets and commercial reports
  • Monitor project costs, identify risks and implement mitigation measures
  • Manage subcontractor accounts including valuations, variations and final accounts
  • Review client, consultant and subcontractor correspondence and issue contractual responses where necessary
  • Lead change control procedures and negotiate commercial agreements with the client
  • Prepare monthly applications for payment and valuation submissions
  • Produce detailed cashflow forecasts and margin analysis reports
  • Support project teams with contractual guidance and commercial advice
  • Drive the project through to successful final account agreement
About You

You are an experienced Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in mechanical or M&E contracting. You understand the commercial pressures associated with large-scale construction projects and have the confidence to manage client relationships while protecting commercial interests.

You possess excellent negotiation skills, strong contractual awareness and a proactive approach to commercial management. You are comfortable working within high-performing project teams and thrive in technically demanding project environments.
