The Role MEP Lead
As MEP Lead, you will take full ownership of mechanical, electrical and plumbing delivery on a major data centre project in Portugal. This is a senior site based leadership role overseeing the coordination, installation and commissioning of all MEP systems from design through to handover.
You will lead a multi disciplinary MEP team, drive quality and safety standards, and ensure programme milestones are achieved across complex building services packages. Your impact will be measured by technical performance, commissioning readiness and the successful energisation of mission critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead all MEP activities across design coordination, construction and commissioning phases
• Oversee mechanical and electrical subcontractors, package managers and site engineers
• Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations across all building services works
• Review and approve MEP design documentation, technical submittals and method statements
• Drive quality control, inspections and compliance with project specifications
• Coordinate with planners to maintain programme milestones and manage lookahead schedules
• Chair MEP coordination meetings with consultants, client representatives and internal teams
• Identify and resolve design clashes and installation issues before they impact programme
• Manage commissioning strategy, ensuring systems are fully tested and ready for handover
• Provide accurate reporting on progress, risks, commercial impacts and resource requirements
About You
• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Building Services
• 10 years plus experience in large scale construction with a strong MEP focus
• Proven background delivering data centre, mission critical or industrial projects
• Strong understanding of HVAC, power distribution, containment, BMS and life safety systems
• Experienced in leading multidisciplinary MEP teams on fast track construction projects
• Confident managing subcontractors, driving performance and maintaining standards
• Highly organised with a sharp focus on quality, safety and programme delivery
• Commercially aware and comfortable working alongside Project Directors and Commercial Managers
