The Role – Mechanical Construction Manager
As Mechanical Construction Manager, you will take full responsibility for the delivery of mechanical building services packages on a major data centre project in Dublin. Reporting to the Mechanical Project Manager, you will oversee HVAC installations, pipework systems, plant rooms and associated mechanical services from installation through to commissioning support.
This is a site based leadership role where you will coordinate subcontractors, drive programme milestones and ensure all mechanical works are delivered safely, on time and to specification. Your input will directly influence quality standards, health and safety performance and overall project success.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead all mechanical construction activities on site, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards
• Manage health and safety across mechanical works, implementing method statements and risk assessments
• Coordinate HVAC systems, pipework installation, plant and equipment to meet programme deadlines
• Oversee subcontractor performance, labour planning and daily site activities
• Work closely with project management to maintain short term look ahead programmes
• Monitor quality control procedures and ensure workmanship meets required standards
• Manage technical procurement of mechanical plant, equipment and specialist subcontractors
• Support commercial management including variations, scope changes, valuations and final account input
• Identify and formally notify delays, changes and risks to senior management
• Liaise with client representatives and key stakeholders to maintain clear communication throughout the project
About You
• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline, or hold a strong trade background with relevant experience
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Construction Manager, Mechanical Site Manager or Senior Mechanical Supervisor within an M&E contracting environment
• Experience delivering mechanical building services on large scale construction projects, ideally within data centres or other mission critical facilities
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, chilled water, pipework, plant room installations and commissioning processes
• Commercial awareness with the ability to manage procurement and variations
• Excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to lead multiple work fronts
• A proactive leader who drives quality, programme and safety on site
