Electrical Commissioning Lead Skills:
- Electrical trade background and/or a third-level qualification in Electrical or Building Services Engineering.
- 5+ years’ relevant commissioning experience.
- Hands-on electrical testing experience – Safe Electric / NICEIC or City & Guilds Inspection & Testing qualified (or equivalent).
- Data centre experience essential.
- Strong knowledge of LV systems, regulations, and standards (ETCI, BS, EN).
- Understanding of CIBSE commissioning codes.
- Proficiency with MS Office, BIM360F, and commissioning platforms.
- Ability to manage commissioning schedules, track progress, and communicate effectively across teams.
As an Electrical Commissioning Lead:
- Fully understand the project and commissioning scope, aligning activities with the overall strategy.
- Develop and maintain commissioning trackers and equipment schedules.
- Oversee commissioning documentation, checklists, and sign-off closeouts.
- Lead QA/QC walkdowns with project representatives.
- Co-ordinate and manage a commissioning team on site.
- Set up, monitor, and issue project testing certification.
- Create weekly/bi-weekly lookahead programmes for commissioning.
- Co-ordinate vendor testing, commissioning, and start-up.
- Prepare detailed commissioning reports and attend FATs/off-site testing where needed.
- Manage QA/QC issues, ensuring they are tracked and closed out.
- Compile turnover/handover dossiers in the correct format.
- Develop project-specific commissioning documentation.
- Report progress, risks, and issues to the Project Manager and Regional Commissioning Lead.
- Strong working knowledge of data centre systems and controls.
