The Company
This is an opportunity to join one of Ireland’s leading utility infrastructure providers, delivering complex power transmission, distribution and renewable energy projects across Ireland and the UK. The business has built a strong reputation in grid infrastructure, substations and renewable energy developments, with a growing pipeline of solar, wind and battery storage projects. Their renewables division delivers full EPC solutions across solar PV, wind farms, BESS and grid connections, working from early-stage design through to construction, commissioning and energisation.
The Role – Senior Electrical Engineer
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of renewable energy and grid infrastructure projects across Ireland. You will take ownership of electrical design packages, provide technical leadership, and support projects from concept through to commissioning. This is a senior-level position with real influence on project quality, technical standards and delivery performance, working closely with project managers, multidisciplinary design teams and site delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
Salary: €80,000 – €95,000 DOE

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver electrical design for renewable energy projects including solar PV, substations and grid connections
- Design and review MV and HV systems including substations, transformers, protection and control systems, and cable routing
- Produce and review technical documentation including single line diagrams, electrical layouts, schematics and protection studies
- Ensure all designs comply with ESB, EirGrid and IEC standards
- Provide technical support across design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases
- Interface with clients, utilities and regulatory bodies throughout project delivery
- Support project commissioning, energisation and handover
- Identify and manage technical risks, design challenges and value engineering opportunities
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- 5 to 10 years plus experience in electrical engineering within utilities, power or renewable energy
- Strong background in MV and HV design, substations and grid connections
- Proven experience delivering renewable energy projects such as solar, wind or BESS
- Solid understanding of ESB and EirGrid standards and grid compliance requirements
- Experience using electrical design tools such as ETAP, DigSilent or AutoCAD
- Strong knowledge of protection systems and power system studies
- Experience supporting projects through full lifecycle from design through to commissioning
- Strong communication skills with the ability to manage stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards is advantageous
- Experience in EPC project environments and grid connection applications is beneficial
