You are a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer looking to take ownership of commissioning activities on a major project in London. This role will see you coordinating the technical design with on-site installation, right through to successful commissioning and handover.

It’s a hands-on position where you’ll be a key link between design, installation, and delivery, ensuring everything is tested, signed off, and working exactly as it should.

Mechanical CX Engineer Skills:
  • Degree in Mechanical/Building Services Engineering (or equivalent Senior Trade qualification).
  • 4+ years’ project engineering experience with a mechanical contractor.
  • Proven track record delivering commissioning on commercial, industrial, pharma, or data centre projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and commissioning processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Commercial awareness and good understanding of project financials.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and mentoring junior engineers.

As a Mechanical CX Engineer:
  • Work in line with the project’s EHS plan and maintain high safety standards at all times.
  • Develop and manage test packs with the Document Controller.
  • Keep test pack and walk-down trackers up to date.
  • Verify incoming equipment and materials.
  • Supervise and record FATs, SATs, and witness on-site testing.
  • Carry out internal pre-tests and snag walks against schematics and P&IDs.
  • Track snag closures and report progress.
  • Lead third-party inspections and walk-downs as required.
  • Understand how commissioning ties into the overall project schedule.
  • Update commissioning trackers and provide input to weekly progress reports.
  • Organise and coordinate subcontractors and specialist vendors on-site.
  • Raise and clarify RFIs with the design team.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the commissioning plan.
  • Manage and verify commissioning activities, ensuring certification is completed in line with specifications.
  • Oversee the production of O&M manuals and client training.
  • Conduct regular site inspections for quality, safety, and progress.
  • Provide weekly engineering updates and trackers.
  • Take part in technical and commissioning meetings with clients, contractors, and the project team.
  • Monitor cost impacts and advise the QS/Project Manager accordingly.
  • Understand variation logs, take-offs, and overall project financial fundamentals.
  • Mentor junior engineers, supporting their professional growth.
  • Contribute to CPD workshops and knowledge-sharing.

The Package:

Salary will be DOE, but you can expect a salary of at least £65,000 plus package.
