We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to join a major data centre project across Europe.
This is an on-site role supporting the delivery of the mechanical commissioning package.
You will work closely with the Commissioning Manager, internal project teams, and external vendors to ensure all mechanical systems are installed, tested, and commissioned to the highest quality standards.

Mechanical Commissioning Engineer Skills
- The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a relevant trade with significant engineering experience.
- Previous experience in a commissioning or mechanical engineering role within construction environments such as Data Centres, Pharmaceutical, or Industrial projects is highly advantageous.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and experience within a design & build environment is required.
- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Project.
- The candidate should be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team environment.
- You will support the development of the mechanical commissioning schedule and strategy in coordination with the wider commissioning team and project stakeholders.
- You will monitor mechanical installation works to ensure compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations prior to testing.
- You will supervise and witness Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) for mechanical plant such as Chillers, AHUs, and CRAH units.
- Coordination with specialist subcontractors and equipment vendors to ensure timely attendance and completion of their scope of works will be key.
- You will review and manage commissioning documentation, including Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Test Scripts, and Compliance Statements, ensuring that “Red Line” drawings and handover documentation are up to date.
- You will actively monitor and manage snag lists to ensure zero defects at handover and attend daily and weekly commissioning meetings with internal teams, clients, and vendors.
- All commissioning activities must be carried out in line with Health, Safety, and Environmental (EHS) requirements.
