With continued growth across mainland Europe, they are now delivering a major hyperscale data centre project in Fredericia, Denmark, and are looking to appoint an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive mechanical engineering delivery from design through to commissioning and handover.
The Role: Lead Mechanical Engineer
This Lead Mechanical Engineer role is based on a major data centre construction project in Fredericia, Denmark.
You will take full ownership of the mechanical engineering and commissioning delivery across the project, leading the mechanical engineering function through procurement, installation, testing, commissioning and final handover.
Reporting into senior project leadership, you will manage mechanical engineering teams, coordinate with electrical and CSA teams, and ensure systems are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required commissioning standards.
This is a hands on leadership role suited to someone comfortable making decisions in a fast moving live construction environment where programme, quality and technical delivery are critical.

You will likely come from a strong mechanical engineering background with experience delivering complex construction projects in mission critical or technically demanding environments.
You should be comfortable leading engineering teams without micromanaging, coordinating multiple stakeholders and making practical engineering decisions under pressure.
The successful Lead Mechanical Engineer will have strong communication skills, commercial awareness and the ability to maintain programme momentum across a fast paced data centre build in Fredericia, Denmark.

Must Have Requirements
- Proven experience required as a Senior or Lead Mechanical Engineer on large scale construction projects
- Must have mission critical, data centre, pharmaceutical or industrial project experience
- Strong mechanical commissioning and systems delivery background required
- Experience with a mechanical contractor or M&E contractor delivering complex projects in Europe or Ireland is required
- Hands on experience required managing mechanical engineering teams and subcontractors on live site environments
Preferred Experience
- Data centre project experience preferred
- Experience managing flushing, balancing, pressure testing and system handover beneficial
- Strong knowledge of QA/QC systems, ITPs, FATs and SATs preferred
- Experience with commissioning sequencing and programme coordination advantageous
- Previous experience mentoring graduate and project engineers beneficial
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical engineering delivery across the full project lifecycle
- Manage mechanical engineering teams and allocate engineers across work packages
- Coordinate mechanical installation, testing, commissioning and handover activities
- Oversee procurement activities including RFQs, technical evaluations and equipment reviews
- Drive commissioning activities including flushing, balancing and pressure testing
- Ensure quality control standards are maintained throughout installation and commissioning
- Coordinate with Electrical and CSA teams to maintain clear system ownership and delivery sequencing
- Manage RFIs, technical submittals, design changes and system trackers
- Monitor programme progress and support look ahead planning activities
- Lead health and safety standards across all mechanical activities on site
- Identify technical and programme risks early and implement mitigation plans
- Provide structured reporting to senior project and business leadership teams
- Mentor and support Project Engineers and graduate engineers across the project team
