We are seeking an experienced and proactive Planner to join a busy construction team based out of Co Tipperary. The Planner will play a critical role in the success of large-scale building projects by developing, monitoring and managing the project schedule, ensuring that key milestones are met, risks are identified and mitigated, and that coordination across multiple disciplines (design, procurement, subcontractors, site operations) is seamless.

The successful candidate will join a company with a strong track record of delivering high-value projects across commercial, residential, industrial and infrastructure sectors, operating in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

For those eager to learn more about this exciting opportunity, please do not hesitate to reach out to Ryan at ryan@breaghrecruitment.com / 015314345

Planner Skills:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in planning roles in the construction industry, ideally with main-contractor experience on projects in the €5m–€90m+ range.
  • Strong competency in scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and the ability to prepare, maintain and report complex programmes.
  • Solid understanding of construction methods, procurement flows, subcontractor and supply chain dynamics and how these interface with programming.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to explain schedule implications clearly to non-planners and senior management.
  • Proven ability to identify and manage schedule risks, prepare mitigation plans and work proactively to keep projects on programme.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, able to prioritise and handle multiple tasks and interfaces.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of multi-discipline teams.
  • A degree or diploma in construction management, civil engineering, planning or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Professional membership (e.g., APM, CIOB) or additional training in planning/scheduling is a plus.

As a Planner:
  • Develop and maintain the master project schedule, including major phases (design, procurement, mobilisation, construction, commissioning, handover) and key milestones.
  • Liaise with the project management team, site teams, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure schedule inputs are accurate and up to date.
  • Monitor progress against the schedule, identify slippages or blockages and recommend corrective actions.
  • Update programme(s) on a weekly / bi-weekly basis, providing clear visual reports (Gantt charts, milestone trackers) and commentary on risk, delay, mitigation.
  • Coordinate with procurement to align long-lead items, equipment deliveries, and subcontractor mobilisation with the schedule.
  • Conduct look-ahead planning (4-12 weeks) and ensure that site teams and subcontractors are aware of upcoming tasks, dependencies and resource requirements.
  • Identify, assess and log schedule risks (e.g., design delays, late deliveries, weather, statutory approvals) and develop mitigation plans.
  • Support change management processes: assess schedule impact of variations, coordinate re-programming as required, communicate to stakeholders.
  • Engage with stakeholders (client, design team, internal management, subcontractors) to present schedule updates, progress and critical issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of planning processes, tools and systems (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, BIM scheduling) across the business.
