An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading multidisciplinary engineering organisation in Cork. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering complex infrastructure projects across sectors such as water and wastewater, energy, waste-to-energy, transportation, and marine works.

You will be responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical systems, working alongside a collaborative team of engineers across civil, mechanical, structural, and automation disciplines. Skills:
  • A recognised electrical engineering qualification (BEng / BSc or equivalent)
  • Significant experience in electrical design (preferably in infrastructure, utilities, water/waste-water, or energy sectors)
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems design: power distribution, lighting, earthing/grounding, protection systems, switchgear, motors, drives, control panels
  • Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, EPLAN, etc)
  • Understanding of instrumentation, control and automation (I&C/SCADA) systems integration
  • Familiarity with mechanical, civil and structural interfaces in multi-discipline projects
  • Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations (IEC, BS/EN, local Irish/Ireland standards, health & safety)
  • Ability to produce clear drawings, specifications, technical reports and interface with other disciplines
  • Strong communication skills: ability to collaborate with internal teams, clients and contractors
  • A proactive problem-solver with strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to travel to site, attend meetings and support commissioning/installation phases

As a Electrical Design Engineer, you will:
  • Lead the electrical design scope for projects from concept through detailed design and handover
  • Develop power distribution layouts, lighting schemes, earthing/grounding arrangements, protection and control systems and switchgear schedules
  • Interface and coordinate with mechanical, civil, process and automation disciplines to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems
  • Prepare and review drawings, specifications, technical calculations, equipment data sheets and design deliverables
  • Participate in design reviews, value-engineering, risk assessments and ensure adherence to project budgets, timelines and quality standards
  • Support procurement by specifying electrical equipment, liaising with vendors, reviewing supplier documentation and technical submittals
  • Assist with site visits, inspections, monitor installation progress, perform commissioning checks and ensure systems are installed per design intent
  • Apply best practices for H&S, sustainability and compliance with relevant standards and company policies
  • Continually seek to improve design processes, share learnings, contribute to innovation and support the company’s commitment to energy excellence and net-zero goals

The Package:

Salary will be DOE, but you can expect a salary of at least €65,000 plus package to and more.
