The Role Mechanical Project Manager
As Mechanical Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for the mechanical package on a major data centre construction project in Dublin. You will lead the mechanical project team, coordinate subcontractors and drive delivery across programme, quality, commercial and safety objectives.
This is a senior leadership role on site where your decisions directly impact project milestones, commissioning readiness and client satisfaction. You will work closely with the Project Director, MEP team and commercial department to ensure the mechanical scope is delivered safely, on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage the full mechanical scope of works on a large scale data centre project
• Develop and maintain detailed short term and long term construction programmes including 12 week lookaheads
• Coordinate mechanical subcontractors, supervisors and package managers to ensure productivity targets are achieved
• Monitor progress against key milestones and proactively mitigate programme risks
• Oversee quality control for all mechanical installations including HVAC, chilled water, pipework and associated systems
• Chair weekly progress and commercial meetings, tracking variations and change management
• Manage procurement schedules including long lead mechanical plant and equipment
• Prepare detailed weekly reports covering safety, progress, commercial status and risk items
• Drive a strong health and safety culture in collaboration with the site safety team
• Liaise with design teams to resolve technical issues and ensure installation aligns with design intent
• Support commissioning planning to ensure mechanical systems are delivered in line with project handover requirements
About You
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in Mechanical Project Management within large scale construction
• Strong background in mechanical building services with experience in data centre construction highly desirable
• Trade background or Mechanical Engineering qualification
• Proven track record delivering complex mechanical packages on time and within budget
• In depth technical knowledge of HVAC systems, pipework, plant installation and mechanical services coordination
• Experience managing large site teams and specialist subcontractors
• Commercially aware with strong cost control and variation management experience
• Confident communicator with the ability to manage client and consultant relationships
• Driven, organised and focused on delivering programme and quality targets
