The Role – Mechanical Engineer
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving plant performance across a busy industrial processing facility. Working closely with the Engineering Manager, you will take ownership of mechanical systems within a designated area, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and safe operation.
This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong focus on maintenance, shutdown planning, asset optimisation, and capital improvement projects. You will be central to driving uptime, resolving recurring issues, and delivering long-term engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities
- Support plant reliability through effective preventative and predictive maintenance strategies
- Take ownership of a designated process area, ensuring mechanical systems operate efficiently
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and implement permanent engineering solutions
- Plan and coordinate plant shutdowns, maintenance outages, and major overhauls
- Manage subcontractors and specialist vendors on-site
- Ensure all works are delivered in line with health and safety standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement across safety, efficiency, and environmental performance
- Support capital projects from concept through to commissioning and handover
- Prepare maintenance documentation, reports, and technical records
- Drive asset optimisation and long-term plant performance initiatives
About You
- Qualified Mechanical Engineer or similar technical discipline
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in heavy industry, manufacturing, or process environments
- Strong understanding of rotating equipment, mechanical systems, and plant maintenance
- Experience working in sectors such as cement, quarrying, mining, or industrial processing is advantageous
- Proven ability to plan and manage maintenance and project works
- Strong contractor management and coordination skills
- Proficient in MS Office, with AutoCAD experience beneficial
- Practical, solutions-focused approach to problem solving
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
- Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced plant environment
Salary: €65,000 – €80,000 (DOE)
