The Company

This specialist engineering contractor delivers complex mechanical, electrical and process engineering projects across Ireland and Europe, with a strong presence in pharmaceutical, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, data centre, healthcare and industrial sectors.

Based from the company’s headquarters in Co Waterford, you will be joining a business with a strong focus on Health & Safety and experience delivering projects in highly regulated environments where safety, quality and technical compliance are central to project delivery.

The Role: Health & Safety Advisor

As Health & Safety Advisor, you will work from the Waterford headquarters while supporting project teams and EHS activities across the business.

Working closely with the EHS Manager, Project Managers, Site Managers and construction teams, you will help maintain high Health, Safety and Environmental standards across mechanical, electrical and process engineering projects.

The position will involve a mix of EHS documentation, project support, site engagement, audits, incident investigation and ongoing development of safe working practices.

Must Have Requirements

  • Must have 3+ years’ experience in a Health & Safety or EHS role within construction, engineering or a similar environment
  • Relevant Health & Safety qualification required, ideally Level 7 or Level 8
  • Proven experience preparing risk assessments, method statements and Health & Safety documentation
  • Strong working knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation and construction site procedures

Preferred Experience

  • Experience within mechanical, electrical or process engineering projects preferred
  • Pharma, life sciences, manufacturing or other high-compliance project experience beneficial
  • Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems advantageous
  • Previous exposure to PSCS or Principal Contractor environments beneficial

Key Responsibilities

  • Support project teams in maintaining compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental requirements
  • Prepare and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements with supervisors and site management
  • Carry out site inspections and EHS audits, following up on corrective actions
  • Assist with accident, incident and near-miss investigations
  • Deliver toolbox talks and support safety training across project teams
  • Advise Project Managers and Site Managers on practical EHS requirements
  • Monitor and report on EHS performance and project safety standards
  • Promote company Health & Safety procedures across all areas of the business

About You

You will have at least three years’ experience in a Health & Safety Advisor, EHS Advisor or EHS Officer position within construction, engineering or a closely related sector.

You should be comfortable working with project managers, supervisors, trades and subcontractors and able to deal with Health & Safety issues in a practical manner.

A good understanding of construction site activities, risk assessments, method statements, audits and incident investigation is important. Experience around mechanical and electrical installations or highly regulated projects would be particularly useful.
