The Role – Experienced Power Systems Engineer
As an Experienced Power Systems Engineer, you will play a key technical role delivering advanced power system studies for industrial and mission critical facilities. You will lead complex analysis projects, provide technical guidance to clients and mentor junior engineers within a collaborative consultancy environment.
This is a senior level consulting position suited to an engineer with strong hands on experience in short circuit analysis, protection coordination, arc flash studies and grid connection assessments. You will work directly with global clients, ensuring high quality technical output, compliance with international standards and delivery within programme and budget.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver detailed power system studies including short circuit analysis, load flow, protection coordination and arc flash assessments
• Carry out grid connection and embedded generation studies including transient stability, harmonics and flicker analysis
• Perform electrical safety assessments and power quality evaluations
• Develop and review protection settings including busbar differential 87B, transformer differential 87T, restricted earth fault and directional protection 67
• Complete cable sizing calculations in accordance with IEC 60502-2 and IEC 60364-5-52
• Use industry standard software such as ETAP, SKM, EasyPower or similar for modelling and simulation
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports for clients across data centre, pharmaceutical and industrial sectors
• Lead client meetings, manage expectations and provide clear technical advice
• Mentor and support junior engineers through technical review and coaching
• Contribute to internal technical development and continuous improvement of quality systems
About You
• Degree qualified Electrical Engineer
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in power systems studies within consultancy or industrial environments
• Strong background in short circuit analysis, protection coordination and arc flash studies
• Proven experience using power system modelling software such as ETAP, SKM or EasyPower
• Knowledge of IEC and international electrical standards
• Experience in grid connection studies and power quality analysis desirable
• Strong technical report writing and communication skills
• Comfortable engaging directly with clients and stakeholders
• Driven, technically curious and motivated to develop as a recognised power systems consultant
