The Company
This established Irish electrical engineering contractor delivers high-voltage, medium-voltage and low-voltage infrastructure projects across the power, renewables, utilities and industrial sectors. With a strong reputation for technical excellence, they continue to expand their engineering team as they deliver major substation, renewable energy and industrial electrical projects nationwide.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with strong EPLAN Electric P8 experience to join their design team.
The Role: Electrical Design Engineer
Working as part of an experienced engineering team, you will be responsible for the design and development of electrical systems for substations, renewable energy developments, ESB framework projects and industrial facilities across Ireland.
This is a varied role offering exposure to major HV and MV infrastructure projects, where you'll work closely with Project Managers, Site Teams and Commissioning Engineers from design through to project completion.
Must Have Requirements
• Proven experience using EPLAN Electric P8.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience producing electrical designs for substations, utilities, renewables or industrial projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and control systems.
• Excellent communication and technical problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience
• High Voltage (HV) or Medium Voltage (MV) projects.
• ESB framework experience.
• Primary or secondary substation design.
• Renewable energy projects including Solar, Wind or Battery Energy Storage Systems.
• Protection and control systems.
• Knowledge of IEC and BS standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Produce electrical design drawings using EPLAN Electric P8.
• Prepare electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts and cable schedules.
• Design LV, MV and control systems for substation, renewable energy and industrial projects.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Teams and Commissioning Engineers throughout project delivery.
• Ensure designs comply with client specifications and industry standards.
• Review and update technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical support during manufacturing, installation and commissioning.
• Identify opportunities for design improvements and value engineering.

You are an Electrical Design Engineer with strong EPLAN experience who enjoys delivering technically challenging infrastructure projects. You have a solid understanding of electrical design principles and enjoy working across a varied portfolio rather than being tied to one sector.
