The Role – Design Engineer
As a Design Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering water and infrastructure projects from initial concept through detailed design and into construction. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing technical expertise to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with regulatory standards.
This is a hands-on design role with real project ownership, offering exposure to high-impact public infrastructure schemes and the opportunity to influence design decisions from an early stage.

The Role – Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed civil engineering design drawings, calculations and technical reports
- Ensure all designs meet safety, environmental, regulatory and constructability requirements
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, electrical and environmental engineers
- Liaise with clients such as Uisce Éireann, local authorities and key stakeholders
- Carry out site visits, surveys and technical assessments to inform design solutions
- Support design coordination during construction and respond to technical queries
- Identify opportunities for innovation, sustainability and cost-effective design approaches
- Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure compliance with current standards and legislation
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience as a Design Engineer within water infrastructure or utility projects
- Proven track record working on Uisce Éireann or similar regulated utility frameworks
- Strong AutoCAD skills with experience producing detailed engineering drawings
- ArcGIS experience is beneficial
- Good understanding of design standards, safety and environmental considerations
- Strong problem-solving ability with practical engineering judgement
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams
- Willingness to attend site and carry out surveys and inspections
- Full driving licence and eligibility to work in Ireland
