The Company

This specialist BMS and building controls contractor delivers technically demanding Building Management Systems for clients across Dublin, Leinster and throughout Ireland.

Their work covers the full BMS project lifecycle, including software engineering, controls, commissioning, testing and handover. Projects provide strong exposure to HVAC controls, electrical systems, instrumentation and building automation, with ongoing investment in technical and product training.

The Role: BMS Project Engineer

As BMS Project Engineer, you will be based out of Dublin and work predominantly across customer sites in Dublin and the wider Leinster region.

You will take a lead technical role on BMS projects, with responsibility for software engineering, commissioning, testing and handover of Building Management Systems.

The position is primarily site based and requires a strong understanding of BMS electrical and instrumentation systems alongside good HVAC knowledge. You will work directly with clients, consultants and other project stakeholders while taking ownership of the technical delivery of your projects.

There is also scope to progress into more office based BMS design and engineering activities as your experience develops.

Must Have Requirements

• Must have practical experience with BMS, controls, electrical or instrumentation systems
• Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems is required
• Hands on experience with BMS engineering, commissioning, controls or software is required
• Must be comfortable working independently and dealing directly with clients and consultants

Preferred Experience

• Cylon BMS experience preferred
• Tridium BMS experience preferred
• Sauter BMS knowledge beneficial
• Siemens BMS knowledge beneficial
• BMS hardware and software design experience advantageous
• Electrical, automation, instrumentation, refrigeration or mechanical qualifications beneficial

Key Responsibilities

• Take the lead technical role on assigned BMS projects
• Engineer and configure Building Management Systems
• Complete BMS software engineering, commissioning and testing
• Carry out point to point testing and system checks
• Troubleshoot BMS controls, electrical, instrumentation and HVAC issues
• Demonstrate completed systems to clients and consultants
• Manage BMS system handover and associated documentation
• Liaise with clients, consultants and project teams
• Assist with BMS hardware and software design
• Monitor project costs and technical progress
• Ensure systems are commissioned and handed over to the required standards

About You

You will ideally come from a BMS, controls, electrical, automation or instrumentation background with a strong understanding of HVAC systems and how mechanical plant is controlled through a Building Management System.

You should be comfortable taking ownership of the technical side of a BMS project, working independently on customer sites and troubleshooting controls and commissioning issues as they arise.

Good communication skills are important as you will be dealing directly with clients, consultants and other members of the project team.

This role would particularly suit a BMS Project Engineer who enjoys the hands on commissioning and controls side of the industry but wants to develop further into software engineering, BMS design and wider project delivery.
