Systems Engineer Skills:
- Degree qualified in Electrical, Automation, Control, or Systems Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5 years’ hands-on industrial experience
- Strong expertise in Siemens PCS7 distributed control systems
- Experience with Step 7, Simatic Manager, and WinCC
- PLC programming experience using CFC, FBD, and STL
- Solid understanding of industrial networks, servers, and Windows operating systems
- Exposure to OT cyber security, system archiving, and restoration practices
- Some experience with SQL and high-level programming languages (advantageous)
- Strong fault-finding, commissioning, and control loop tuning capability
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
- Commercially aware with a practical, production-focused mindset
- Take ownership of the site Siemens PCS7 central control system, ensuring reliability and performance
- Act as Network Owner for control system servers, software, and communications
- Design, program, and modify control software for plant upgrades and capital projects
- Carry out fault-finding, PID loop setup and tuning, and systems optimisation
- Support commissioning, signal checking, and plant modifications
- Maintain operator stations and plant visualisation software
- Coordinate software uploads, upgrades, and version control
- Liaise with specialist control system vendors and external engineers
- Support plant engineers and operations teams on control systems issues
- Contribute to continuous improvement, safety, and operational excellence initiatives
