Job title: Senior Mechanical Engineer – Building Services/Mechanical Projects

This Irish mechanical contractor delivers mechanical services across residential, commercial, education, healthcare, industrial and fit out projects, with a strong workload throughout Dublin. Their work covers HVAC, plumbing, heating, piping and associated mechanical building services.
The business has a sizeable in-house team of engineers, site management, CAD staff and trades, with a strong emphasis on staff retention, training and progression.
The Role: Senior Mechanical Engineer
As Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be based in Dublin and take responsibility for the technical delivery of mechanical building services projects from planning and design coordination through construction and completion.
You will work closely with Project Managers, site teams, consultants, main contractors and subcontractors, providing technical direction and ensuring mechanical installations are delivered safely, to programme and in line with specification. JCPS describe the position as covering HVAC, plumbing and piping systems across the full project lifecycle.

About You
You will be an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with at least 8 years’ experience and a strong background in mechanical building services or mechanical contracting.
You should be technically confident, comfortable dealing with site and design issues, and capable of coordinating several stakeholders while keeping mechanical works moving to programme. Strong communication, attention to detail and practical problem solving will be important.

Must Have Requirements
- Must have 8+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering or mechanical building services
- Proven experience required delivering HVAC, plumbing and mechanical services on construction projects
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, drawings, specifications and installation requirements
- Experience coordinating with site teams, consultants and contractors is required
Preferred Experience
- Mechanical contracting experience in the Irish construction market preferred
- Experience across commercial, residential, healthcare, education or fit out projects beneficial
- Previous experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers would be an advantage
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical delivery of mechanical packages from design coordination through installation and completion
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications and technical submissions
- Coordinate HVAC, plumbing, piping and associated mechanical services
- Work closely with Project Managers, consultants, subcontractors and site teams
- Monitor programme, technical compliance, quality and project deliverables
- Resolve technical issues arising during installation and commissioning
- Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and project staff
- Ensure mechanical works are delivered in line with safety, quality and project requirements
