This established Irish main contractor has a strong track record delivering large scale building projects across healthcare, commercial, education and other specialist construction sectors throughout Ireland.

With a solid pipeline of work across the South East and wider Irish market, the company is known for well structured project teams, strong commercial management and delivering complex projects to a high standard.

The Role: Quantity Surveyor

This is a Quantity Surveyor role based on a major healthcare construction project in Wexford, Co Wexford, with a construction value of approximately €60 million and an expected programme of 18 to 24 months.

Working as part of an experienced commercial team, you will be involved in the day to day financial and contractual management of the project, covering subcontractor procurement, valuations, variations, cost reporting and final accounts.

You will work closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor, Project Manager and site team to maintain strong cost control while supporting programme delivery, quality and overall project performance.

Must Have Requirements:
  •  Must have previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor on building projects in Ireland
  •  Proven experience required with a main contractor or established construction contractor
  •  Strong understanding of subcontractor procurement, valuations, variations and cost reporting
  •  Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline required


Preferred Experience:
  • Healthcare project experience preferred
  • Experience on large scale projects valued above €20 million beneficial
  • Knowledge of Irish construction contracts and subcontractor packages
  • Experience working within a structured commercial team


Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, tender analysis and package appointments
  • Prepare and assess subcontractor valuations and payment applications
  • Monitor project costs against budgets and commercial targets
  • Identify, value and manage variations throughout the project
  • Prepare monthly cost reports and commercial updates
  • Assist with forecasting and cash flow management
  • Manage subcontractor accounts through to final account agreement
  • Liaise closely with the site team regarding progress, programme and commercial issues
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and contract documentation
  • Support the Senior Quantity Surveyor and wider commercial team throughout project delivery
  • Ensure strong cost control is maintained across the healthcare project


About You

You will be a Quantity Surveyor with practical main contractor experience and a good understanding of the commercial management of large scale construction projects.

You should be comfortable dealing with subcontractors, procurement, valuations, variations and cost reporting while working closely with the site and commercial teams.

Previous healthcare construction experience would be beneficial, but strong building experience on commercial, education, residential or other large scale projects will also be considered.

You will need strong attention to detail, good communication skills and the ability to manage your workload in line with a demanding construction programme.
