This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong commercial acumen, excellent stakeholder management, and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams across a range of sectors including commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, and pharmaceutical.

This specialist mechanical services provider delivers high-quality design, installation, and maintenance across healthcare, pharmaceutical, education, and commercial sectors. Mechanical Project Manager Skills:
  • Third-level qualification (Level 7 or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years’ experience managing mechanical or M&E building services projects—especially complex commercial, industrial, or regulated (e.g. healthcare, pharma) works.
  • Proven experience delivering projects successfully in terms of scope, quality, time, and cost.
  • Strong commercial comprehension: budgeting, variances, cash flow, cost recovery, and project controls.
  • Excellent knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, boilers, etc.), installation methodologies, and commissioning.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills; ability to engage and lead site teams, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Competent with project management and office software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Excel, Word).
  • Thorough understanding of Quality, H&S, and compliance standards in construction.
  • Experience working in live environments or with minimal service disruption (e.g., hospitals, laboratories, occupied buildings).
  • Familiarity with Irish construction regulations, PSCS/PSDP roles, and CDM processes.

As a Mechanical Project Manager:
  • Lead full project delivery lifecycle for mechanical services projects—from initial engagement through to practical completion and handover.
  • Develop project scopes, programmes, and budgets; manage cost controls, cash flow forecasts, and P&L monitoring.
  • Collaborate with estimating, procurement, engineering, and site teams to plan resources, materials, and logistics.
  • Organise and chair project meetings (e.g., tender review, site progress reviews, site handover).
  • Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and trades; negotiate terms and ensure timely procurement.
  • Monitor project progress—track milestones, manage dependencies, control scheduling, and implement corrective actions where needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all quality, health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 9001/14001/45001, PSCS, client-specific requirements).
  • Oversee installation, testing, commissioning, and close-out processes, including preparation of Operational & Maintenance (O&M) manuals, as-built documentation, and snagging lists.
  • Manage variations, claims, RFIs, and change control, ensuring proper documentation and escalation to commercial leadership as required.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, main contractors, and internal stakeholders—ensuring clear communication, timely reporting, and high levels of service.
  • Foster best practices across projects, including risk management, lessons learned, and continuous improvement.
