Well-established Irish engineering contractor specialising in the delivery of water and wastewater treatment infrastructure throughout Ireland and the UK. They provide design, construction, commissioning, and operational support services across municipal and industrial treatment facilities.
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured projects, they are expanding their site delivery team across several wastewater treatment plant projects throughout County Louth. These projects have programmes extending towards 2029 and 2030, offering excellent long-term career prospects and stability within one of Ireland's fastest growing infrastructure sectors.
The Role: Mechanical Project Engineer
This Mechanical Project Engineer position will support the delivery of major wastewater treatment plant upgrades and new infrastructure projects across multiple sites in County Louth.
The focus of the role is the implementation of approved designs during construction, ensuring mechanical installations are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with programme requirements. You will work closely with Project Managers, Site Engineers, subcontractors, commissioning teams, and Health & Safety personnel throughout project delivery.
A strong understanding of site Health & Safety procedures is essential, as you will be actively involved in ensuring safe systems of work are maintained across live construction environments.
Must Have Requirements
You will be a practical Mechanical Project Engineer who enjoys working in a site-based environment and taking ownership of project delivery. You will have strong Health & Safety awareness, experience managing subcontractors, and the ability to coordinate multiple work fronts while maintaining quality and programme objectives.
Experience within the water, wastewater, utilities, industrial, or process sectors would be highly beneficial, although candidates from other construction backgrounds with strong mechanical project delivery experience will also be considered.

Must Have Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Engineer on construction, utilities, industrial, or infrastructure projects
- Strong site-based Health & Safety experience required
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and site activities
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel across County Louth projects
- Water or wastewater treatment plant experience
- Mechanical process pipework installation experience
- Pumping stations, treatment systems, or utilities experience
- Knowledge of commissioning and handover procedure
- Experience with quality management systems and technical documentation
- Coordinate mechanical installation works across wastewater treatment projects
- Ensure all activities are carried out in line with project Health & Safety requirements
- Review drawings, specifications, and technical submittals
- Monitor site progress against programme milestones
- Manage subcontractors and coordinate daily site activities
- Support quality inspections, testing, and commissioning activities
- Maintain project documentation, reports, and site records
- Liaise with project managers, consultants, and client representatives
- Assist with procurement and material management
- Identify and resolve technical issues during construction
