I’m hiring a Mechanical Project Engineer based out of Co Mayo, and covering the Galway, Sligo, Leitrim & Limerick region. This role suits someone who’s motivated, organised, and eager to develop further in their career.

You’ll work closely with project and contracts managers to plan, coordinate, and deliver projects while maintaining quality, safety, and progress on site. The work will mainly focus on mechanical installations but will also expose you to electrical, design, commissioning, and maintenance activities, helping you build a well?rounded skill set.

Mechanical Project Engineer Skills:
  • 3+ years in a similar role, ideally within mechanical engineering/building services.
  • Level 7 (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A collaborative approach and strong input at team meetings.
  • Confidence dealing with suppliers/subcontractors from procurement through delivery.
  • Initiative and calm problem?solving when issues arise on site.
  • Solid MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Working proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM tools.
  • Familiarity with Irish and international building codes and standards.
  • Clear communicator with good project management instincts.
  • Full, clean driver’s licence.

As a Mechanical Project Engineer:
  • Lead with Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards.
  • Work within our HSQE system and statutory requirements.
  • Step up to cover day?to?day site operations if the project manager is away.
  • Understand the programme and budgets; recognise the impact of overruns and act early.
  • Prepare and submit Method Statements and Risk Assessments before works begin.
  • Produce coordinated drawings (mechanical, electrical, sprinkler) and interface with structural/architectural elements.
  • Compile and assess Technical Submittals and ensure coordinated drawings align with the design spec.
  • Identify value?engineering opportunities and sensible cost savings.
  • Verify receipt of equipment and materials on site.
  • Raise clear RFIs to close out design queries promptly.
  • Understand the commercial fundamentals—profit plans, variation logs, take?offs, etc.
  • Deliver in line with the Quality Plan: SATs, ITRs, pressure tests, water tests, and commissioning records completed correctly.
  • Prepare tidy, complete handover packs: O&M Manuals, Safety Files, As?Constructed Drawings.
  • Engage suppliers and subcontractors—recommend equipment and let packages at the right time.
  • Liaise with consultants, main contractors, subs, site teams, and commercial colleagues.
  • Run effective weekly whiteboard meetings—plan safe, efficient delivery.
  • Track site progress against the programme; adjust resourcing/rates to hit (or beat) dates.
  • Show eagerness to learn and support junior team members with mentoring and guidance.
  • Do the small things well, pitch in where needed to keep momentum.

The Package:

Salary will be DOE, but you can expect a salary of at least €65,000 plus package to and more.
