The Company

One of Europe’s leading specialist data centre contractors is seeking an experienced Mechanical Lead to join a major hyperscale data centre project in Vaasa, Finland. With a strong pipeline of large-scale mission critical projects across Europe, this contractor has built a reputation for delivering high-value mechanical and electrical packages to the highest industry standards.

Operating exclusively within the data centre and mission critical sector, the company delivers complex turnkey projects from design and construction through to commissioning and handover. Their continued growth across Europe has created an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Mechanical Lead looking to progress within a fast-paced international environment.

The Role – Mechanical Lead

The Mechanical Lead will take ownership of the mechanical systems package on a large-scale data centre project, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

You will work closely with the Project Manager, subcontractors, consultants and client teams to coordinate all mechanical installation activities across the project lifecycle. This is a key leadership position with responsibility for driving programme delivery, quality assurance and site performance on a technically demanding mission critical build.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full mechanical package on a large-scale data centre construction project
• Coordinate mechanical subcontractors and site teams to ensure programme targets are achieved
• Drive a strong Health & Safety culture across all mechanical activities on site
• Work closely with the Project Manager and Safety Team to manage site compliance and safety documentation
• Oversee mechanical QA processes including inspections, testing and handover documentation
• Monitor project progress and ensure works are delivered in line with programme requirements
• Manage package budgets, forecasting and cost control throughout the project lifecycle
• Coordinate with client representatives, design consultants and commissioning teams
• Ensure all mechanical installations meet required industry and client specification
• Lead site meetings and provide regular progress reporting to senior management

About You

• Trade background or relevant third level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Mechanical Lead, Mechanical Project Manager or Senior Mechanical Supervisor role
• Strong background delivering large-scale mechanical installation projects
• Previous experience working on data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial or mission critical construction projects preferred
• Excellent knowledge of mechanical systems, QA procedures and construction sequencing
• Strong leadership and subcontractor management experience
• Proven ability to manage programme delivery within fast-track construction environments
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Organised, detail-focused and capable of managing multiple priorities on site
