The Role – Mechanical Commissioning Engineer

As Mechanical Commissioning Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of mechanical and HVAC systems on a major data centre project in Finland. Working on site and reporting to the Commissioning Manager, you will take ownership of hands on commissioning activities, system testing, and quality sign off, ensuring all mechanical services perform in line with design intent and client requirements.

This is a technically focused role suited to a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer who enjoys being close to the systems, solving problems on site, and driving projects through to successful handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out hands on mechanical commissioning activities in line with approved commissioning plans and procedures
  • Execute commissioning of HVAC and mechanical systems including testing, fault finding, diagnostics, and functional performance testing
  • Verify that mechanical services operate in accordance with design intent, specifications, and performance criteria
  • Support and witness vendor and subcontractor commissioning activities
  • Complete system inspections, pre commissioning checks, and readiness reviews
  • Manage the commissioning tagging process in line with project procedures
  • Track, review, and close out commissioning documentation to achieve required sign off levels
  • Support quality management across mechanical installation and commissioning activities
  • Work to commissioning programmes and support milestone achievement
  • Ensure all activities comply with project Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality requirements
  • Maintain clear communication with the commissioning team, subcontractors, and wider project stakeholders
About You

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering, or a recognised Mechanical Trade background with strong commissioning experience
  • Minimum three years’ experience in a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer role
  • Strong HVAC and mechanical commissioning background within data centres, industrial, or large commercial projects
  • Good understanding of construction environments and safe systems of work
  • Technically strong with a structured, process driven approach
  • Confident problem solver with strong attention to detail
  • Clear communicator who can work effectively with vendors, contractors, and commissioning managers
  • Strong focus on quality, safety, and programme delivery
