A well established engineering contractor is seeking a Mechanical Estimator to join its Galway team on a permanent basis.
This company has a strong pipeline of mechanical, building services and high value engineering projects across Ireland and Europe, with long term work secured across sectors such as pharma, data centres, power, commercial and industrial construction.
The Role
As Mechanical Estimator, you will prepare accurate and competitive tender submissions for mechanical services projects, including HVAC, process piping, utilities, plumbing, ductwork and associated plant.
You will review drawings, specifications and tender documents, complete detailed take offs, manage supplier enquiries, assess quotations and support value engineering options. This is a strong opportunity for an estimator who wants long term progression with a respected contractor and a strong Galway based team.

Key Responsibilities
- Review tender documents, drawings, specifications and project scope
- Prepare mechanical take offs in line with tender requirements
- Assess labour, material, plant, access and prelims costs
- Issue supplier and subcontractor enquiries with relevant documentation
- Evaluate quotations and ensure full compliance with project requirements
- Prepare RFIs, value engineering options and product substitutions
- Liaise with engineering, commercial, operations and project teams
- Attend site surveys, tender reviews, clarification meetings and handover meetings
- Check quantities, descriptions and pricing before final tender submission
- Work to company estimating, quality and documentation procedures
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or similar
- 3 years plus experience in mechanical estimating or building services estimating
- Experience pricing HVAC, plumbing, utilities, process piping, ductwork or equipment packages
- Strong knowledge of tender documents, drawings, specifications and take offs
- Good commercial awareness with excellent attention to detail
- Confident communicator who can liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams
- Organised, accurate and able to manage multiple tender deadlines
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider estimating team
- Strong Microsoft Office skills and experience with estimating software
Salary: €65,000 to €80,000 DOE
