The Role: Mechanical Construction Manager

As Mechanical Construction Manager, you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of mechanical building services installations on a major data centre project in Lisbon. Reporting to the Mechanical Project Manager, you will coordinate subcontractors, manage programme delivery, oversee quality standards, and ensure mechanical works are completed safely and efficiently.

The role requires strong leadership on site while working closely with project management, commercial teams, specialist suppliers, and client representatives to ensure all mechanical installations are delivered in line with programme and specification.

Must Have Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Construction Manager or Senior Mechanical Site Manager within an M&E contracting environment.
  • Experience managing large-scale mechanical installations including HVAC and pipework packages.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety, quality assurance, and programme delivery.
  • Excellent communication and subcontractor management skills.
  • Ability to work on large construction projects in a fast-paced site environment.
Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience delivering data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, or other mission critical projects.
  • Experience working for an M&E contractor on major European construction projects.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience managing variations and procurement.
Nice to Have

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Experience using digital project management platforms.
  • Previous overseas project experience.
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day mechanical construction activities across the project.
  • Coordinate HVAC, mechanical pipework, and specialist mechanical subcontractors.
  • Prepare and implement method statements and risk assessments.
  • Work closely with the project team to deliver mechanical works in line with programme milestones.
  • Manage procurement of specialist equipment, materials, and subcontract packages.
  • Assist with commercial management including valuations, variations, and final accounts.
  • Monitor and manage two-week look-ahead programmes.
  • Coordinate labour requirements to maintain programme delivery
  • Ensure all mechanical installations meet quality standards and project specifications.
  • Monitor plant and material deliveries to ensure compliance and correct storage.
  • Maintain excellent communication with the client, consultants, and wider project team.
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and company procedures throughout construction.
About You

You are an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager with a strong background delivering complex mechanical building services packages for an M&E contractor. You have excellent organisational skills, can coordinate multiple subcontractors simultaneously, and are confident driving programme delivery while maintaining exceptional quality and safety standards.

You enjoy working within collaborative project teams and have the technical ability to solve problems while maintaining positive relationships with clients and site stakeholders.
