The Company
This leading Irish main contractor has a strong track record delivering major construction projects across Ireland, including large-scale residential, commercial, healthcare, education, data centre and life sciences developments.
With a major multi-phase residential development underway in North Dublin, they are now looking to strengthen their Planning team with an experienced Construction Planner.
The project comprises multiple apartment blocks together with associated amenity, infrastructure and external works, providing a substantial programme of work over the coming years.
You will join a small and highly experienced planning team, working closely with site and project management while also gaining exposure to other major projects across the contractor’s pipeline.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an established main contractor with a strong workload, long-term career opportunities and scope to progress into a more senior planning position.
The Role: Construction Planner
As Construction Planner, you will take responsibility for developing, maintaining and monitoring detailed construction programmes for a major residential development in North Dublin.
Working closely with the site management and wider project team, you will track progress against programme, assess critical activities and ensure subcontractor packages are properly sequenced and integrated into the overall construction schedule.
You will also be involved across pre-tender, tender and post-tender planning, giving you exposure to both live project delivery and upcoming projects within the contractor’s pipeline.
Must Have Requirements
• Minimum of 5 years’ planning experience within the construction industry
• Relevant professional qualification, ideally Engineering or a related discipline
• Proven experience developing and maintaining construction programmes
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing and project delivery
• Strong IT skills and experience with construction planning software
• Excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills
Preferred Experience
• Primavera P6 and/or Asta Powerproject experience preferred
• Large-scale residential or apartment experience beneficial
• Main contractor experience preferred
• Experience on major multi-phase construction projects beneficial
• Experience reviewing and integrating subcontractor programmes beneficial
• Experience producing progress analysis and look-ahead programmes beneficial
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain detailed construction programmes
• Prepare pre-tender, tender and post-tender programmes
• Develop critical path and contract programmes
• Prepare project execution plans, flow charts and labour histograms
• Monitor construction progress against agreed programmes
• Produce regular progress reports and programme analysis
• Prepare site target and short-term look-ahead programmes
• Review subcontractor schedules and integrate them into the overall programme
About You
You will be an experienced Construction Planner with at least 5 years’ experience working within the construction industry.
You should have a strong understanding of construction sequencing and be confident developing detailed programmes, monitoring progress and working closely with site management teams and subcontractors.
Experience on large-scale residential or apartment developments would be particularly beneficial, although candidates coming from other major construction sectors will also be considered.
You will be comfortable working independently while also contributing to a wider planning and project team, with experience using Primavera P6 and/or Asta Powerproject particularly beneficial.
