We are seeking a Commissioning Engineer to support pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up activities across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and process systems based out of Co Kildare.

This role is central to ensuring equipment and systems achieve operational readiness in line with technical, safety and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with engineering teams, subcontractors and commissioning specialists, delivering structured commissioning activities and producing high-quality documentation and reports.

Commissioning Engineer Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Instrumentation or Process Engineering
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ commissioning or technical project experience within water, wastewater, industrial or utilities sectors
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, ICA and process commissioning activities
  • Skilled in preparing commissioning procedures, RAMS, test scripts, plans and handover documentation
  • Ability to lead commissioning teams, supervise technicians and coordinate field activities
  • Strong problem-solving capability with the ability to troubleshoot rotating/static equipment, pumps, motors, MCCs, PLCs and control systems
  • Experience conducting SATs, FATs, loop checks, energisation and functional testing
  • Confident working with P&IDs, loop diagrams, single-line diagrams, control narratives and cause-and-effect documentation
  • Strong IT proficiency including Microsoft Office; familiarity with CAD or Revit is an advantage
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills, with the ability to produce clear reports and commissioning records
  • Strong understanding of quality, environmental and safety standards, including PTW systems and HSE compliance
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and deliver commissioning work under pressure
  • Full clean Irish driving licence and authorisation to work in Ireland (EU passport, Stamp 4, Critical Skills Visa)
As a Commissioning Engineer:
  • Plan, organise and execute pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up activities for MEICA and process systems
  • Review specifications, drawings and vendor documentation to determine commissioning requirements
  • Perform field inspections, P&ID walkdowns, equipment readiness verifications and system checks
  • Carry out flushing, air blowing, leak testing, pipeline testing, interlock checks, energisation and function testing
  • Support package unit start-ups, plant optimisation and operational stabilisation
  • Prepare commissioning documents including test scripts, sequences of operation and commissioning schedules
  • Attend daily commissioning coordination meetings and report progress to project leadership
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, PTW requirements and PPE policies on site
  • Identify design discrepancies, installation issues or system gaps and escalate to relevant engineers
  • Produce accurate commissioning reports, test sheets and documentation for client handover
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, process and automation engineers to resolve technical challenges
  • Assist in continuous improvement of commissioning procedures, templates and documentation standards
The Package: Salary will be DOE, but you can expect a salary of €60,000–€80,000 plus package, depending on experience.
