About the Contractor

You will be joining a leading tier-one Irish civil and utilities contractor with over 40 years of experience delivering large-scale projects across the country. The company has a proven track record across:

  • Major infrastructure projects – roads, bridges, and public realm upgrades

  • Utilities – gas, water, power, and telecoms networks

  • Renewables – energy infrastructure and grid connections

  • Residential regeneration – flagship mixed-use and city-centre schemes

They are currently delivering one of Ireland’s largest and most high-profile infrastructure projects in the Dublin region, making this a unique opportunity to play a key role on a landmark development.


Role Overview:

The company is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join the senior team. This is a key strategic role, requiring on-site presence in Dublin, and offers the chance to lead commercial strategy on high-value infrastructure projects.

The role involves managing complex target-cost contracts, where collaboration, open-book cost reporting, and risk-sharing with the client are critical to project success. A strong background in utilities and road infrastructure, along with experience in Design & Build (D&B) contracts, will be key to succeeding in this position.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage commercial aspects of large-scale infrastructure projects under collaborative, open-book contract frameworks with shared risk/reward.

  • Oversee cost planning, forecasting, and value engineering.

  • Lead contract administration, ensuring full compliance with contractual obligations.

  • Provide input into strategic decisions affecting commercial performance and risk management.

  • Support tendering, subcontract procurement, and pricing strategies.

  • Collaborate closely with project teams, clients, and stakeholders to achieve best value.

  • Manage change control, claims, and dispute resolution processes.

  • Deliver accurate and timely project financial reporting.

  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and support to Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff.


Candidate Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager on large-scale infrastructure projects.

  • Strong knowledge of target-cost / risk-sharing contract frameworks is essential.

  • Experience in utility and road infrastructure projects.

  • Solid understanding of Design & Build contracts.

  • Ability to be Dublin-based or travel to the Dublin region during the work week.

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred.
