From Graduate to Graduate Site Engineer: Adam's Story
Every construction career starts somewhere.
Whether you're fresh out of college or thinking about your next move, taking that first step can feel daunting. We sat down with Adam to talk about finding his first role in construction and his experience working with Breagh Recruitment.
Tell us a little about yourself.
I recently graduated from college and knew I wanted to build a career in construction. My main goal was finding a role where I could continue learning and gain experience with a well-established contractor.
What were you looking for in your first job?
I wasn't just looking for any graduate role. I wanted somewhere that would help me develop, expose me to good projects and give me a solid foundation for a long-term career.
How did you first come across Breagh Recruitment?
I applied for a role on Indeed, which led me to Breagh Recruitment.
What was your experience like?
From the start, everything was straightforward.
Fionn kept me updated throughout the process, explained what to expect before interviews and was always available whenever I had questions.
I never felt like I was left wondering what was happening next.
What did you find most helpful?
Probably the communication.
I always received feedback, I knew where I stood throughout the process and I could ask questions about the companies and roles before making any decisions.
That gave me a lot more confidence.
Tell us about your current role.
I'm now working as a Graduate Site Engineer.
Every day I'm learning something new and working alongside experienced people who are helping me develop both technically and professionally.
The biggest positive has definitely been settling into the team and learning from people who've been doing this for years.
What advice would you give someone considering a move?
Don't be afraid to explore your options.
You don't have to accept every opportunity, but having conversations and understanding what's available can only help your career.
Any final thoughts?
I'd just like to thank Fionn and everyone at Breagh Recruitment for all their support throughout the process.
I genuinely don't think I'd be where I am today without their help.
