This highly regarded Irish main contractor has built a strong reputation for delivering complex healthcare, education, residential and commercial projects throughout Ireland. With a long-standing presence in the market and a healthy order book of secured work, they continue to invest in their commercial teams to support ongoing growth.

Their healthcare division has delivered a range of technically demanding projects and is recognised for maintaining high standards of quality, programme delivery and client satisfaction. Due to continued expansion, they are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Wexford team.


The Role: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Based in Wexford Town, Co Wexford, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will take commercial responsibility for a significant healthcare construction project while working closely with the Contracts Manager, Project Manager and wider commercial team.

You will oversee all commercial aspects from procurement through to final account, ensuring robust cost control, risk management and accurate financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

Must Have Requirements

Must have 5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor on construction projects
  • Proven experience required with a main contractor in Ireland or the UK
  • Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
  • Strong knowledge of cost management, procurement and contract administration
  • Experience managing subcontractor accounts from procurement through to final account

Preferred Experience
  • Healthcare project experience preferred
  • Experience on public sector construction projects beneficial
  • Strong knowledge of JCT, RIAI or similar forms of contract
  • Experience using modern commercial management systems

Nice to Have
  • Chartered status or progression towards chartership
  • Additional construction or commercial qualifications
  • Experience mentoring junior commercial staff

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts and cost reporting
  • Oversee subcontractor procurement and package management
  • Prepare, negotiate and agree interim valuations and final accounts
  • Monitor project costs and identify commercial risks and opportunities
  • Manage variations, change control and contractual compliance
  • Prepare monthly commercial reports for senior management
  • Work closely with site management teams to maintain programme and budget targets
  • Support successful project delivery through proactive commercial management
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors

About You

You are a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background delivering building projects for a main contractor. You understand the commercial pressures associated with healthcare construction and have the ability to manage costs while supporting programme delivery.

You possess excellent negotiation skills, commercial awareness and attention to detail. You are comfortable working with project teams, consultants and clients while maintaining accurate financial control across all project stages.

A proactive approach, strong communication skills and the ability to identify commercial opportunities will be key to success in this role.
