The Company

This established engineering contractor has built a strong reputation for delivering complex infrastructure and energy projects across Ireland and the UK. With a growing portfolio of renewable energy, utility, gas, power and transmission projects, they continue to invest in people, technology and long term programme delivery.

Their workload includes major EPC projects, renewable energy developments, grid infrastructure, gas installations and large scale civil engineering works. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Planner to strengthen their planning team based in either Kildare or Dublin.


The Role: Senior Planner

This is a senior position within the project controls team where you will play a critical role in planning and managing the successful delivery of major energy infrastructure projects.

Working alongside Project Directors, Commercial Managers and Delivery Teams, you will develop and maintain fully resourced programmes from tender stage through to live project delivery. Your expertise will influence programme strategy, risk management and project performance across multiple high value contracts.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Planner who enjoys taking ownership, influencing project outcomes and working on technically challenging energy and infrastructure schemes.


Must Have Requirements
  • Proven experience required as a Planner or Senior Planner within civil engineering, utilities or energy infrastructure.
  • Minimum 5 years' planning experience using Primavera P6 on major construction or engineering projects.
  • Experience with renewable energy, gas, utilities, transmission or large infrastructure projects is required.
  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of programme management, project controls and construction sequencing.

Preferred Experience
  • EPC project experience.
  • Tender planning and preconstruction experience.
  • Knowledge of NEC, FIDIC or similar contract forms.
  • Experience producing resource loaded programmes.
  • Microsoft Project experience.

Nice to Have
  • Power generation or substation project experience.
  • Programme risk analysis experience.
  • Planning experience across multiple live projects.
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain and update detailed Primavera P6 construction programmes.
  • Produce fully resourced project schedules from tender through to completion.
  • Monitor programme performance and identify opportunities to improve delivery.
  • Carry out programme analysis and critical path reviews.
  • Support project teams with planning strategy and programme optimisation.
  • Prepare planning information for client meetings and project reviews.
  • Work closely with commercial and delivery teams to manage programme risk.
  • Develop recovery programmes where required.
  • Assist bid teams with planning methodology and tender submissions.
  • Mentor junior planners and contribute to continuous improvement within the planning function.
  • Promote high standards of health, safety and environmental planning throughout project delivery.

About You

You are an experienced Senior Planner who understands the challenges of delivering large infrastructure and energy projects. You enjoy solving programme issues before they become problems and can confidently communicate with project teams, commercial managers and senior stakeholders.

You have excellent Primavera P6 skills, understand construction sequencing and resource planning, and are comfortable managing multiple programmes across complex engineering projects.
