The Role Quantity Surveyor M&E
As an M&E Quantity Surveyor on a major data centre project in Milan, you will take ownership of key mechanical and electrical subcontract packages from procurement through to final account.
This is a senior commercial role on site, working closely with the Project Director and wider commercial team to control costs, manage risk and protect margin on a high value mission critical development. Your work will directly influence financial performance, subcontractor relationships and successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead subcontractor procurement including preparation of tender packages, tender analysis, negotiations and subcontract award
• Manage multiple M&E subcontract packages from order through to final account
• Oversee remeasurement, interim payments, variations and claims management
• Prepare and submit monthly cost reports and end of project forecasts
• Develop and agree external valuations with the client team
• Attend monthly commercial meetings and subcontractor reviews
• Ensure timely submission of contractual notices and claims
• Measure work packages from drawings and apply agreed rates for accurate pricing
• Resolve commercial disputes professionally and efficiently
• Work closely with site management to monitor budget, cost changes and risk
About You
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline
• 7 years plus experience as a Quantity Surveyor or M&E Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor
• Strong background in mechanical and electrical packages on large construction projects
• Experience managing subcontractor procurement and final accounts
• Commercially astute with excellent contract knowledge
• Highly organised with strong reporting and analytical skills
• Confident communicator with the ability to manage client and subcontractor relationships
• Data centre or mission critical project experience is advantageous but not essential
• Results driven with the ability to operate in a fast paced site environment
