The Role – Mechanical QA QC Engineer
As a Mechanical QA QC Engineer you will be responsible for maintaining and improving quality standards across major mechanical installations. This is a site based building services role focused on inspection, testing, documentation control and ensuring compliance across HVAC, pipework and public health systems.
You will work closely with project managers, mechanical engineers and subcontractors to ensure that all mechanical works meet specifications, regulatory requirements and internal QA QC procedures. Your role will directly influence programme delivery, commissioning success and client handover.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement mechanical QA QC plans and Inspection and Test Plans for building services projects
• Carry out inspections of HVAC systems, pipework, plant rooms and public health installations
• Ensure mechanical installations comply with drawings, specifications and UK building regulations
• Monitor workmanship standards and manage non conformance reports through to close out
• Review and control method statements, quality documentation and site records
• Support pressure testing, flushing, validation and mechanical commissioning activities
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, audits and corrective actions
• Liaise with subcontractors and site management to resolve quality issues promptly
• Assist in preparing QA QC handover documentation for client acceptance
About You
• Degree, HNC or trade background in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
• 3 to 5 years plus experience in a Mechanical QA QC Engineer role within M&E construction
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical pipework and building services standards
• Experience working on data centre, pharmaceutical, commercial or large industrial projects
• Good understanding of UK building regulations and QA QC frameworks
• SMSTS and CSCS Black Card preferred
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail
• Confident communicator who can uphold quality standards on site
