The Role Mechanical Lead

This is a senior mechanical leadership role focused on delivering large-scale data centre MEP packages from construction through to completion. You will lead site teams, coordinate across disciplines, and ensure mechanical systems are installed safely, on programme, and to specification.
Working closely with contracts managers, engineers, and subcontractors, you will play a key role in driving quality, programme performance, and commercial success across the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical teams and site personnel across large-scale data centre projects
• Manage mechanical installation works ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and programme
• Coordinate with contracts managers, site engineers, and MEP teams to ensure smooth project delivery
• Drive health and safety standards across all mechanical activities on site
• Monitor quality of workmanship, materials, and installations
• Identify design issues, clashes, and omissions and liaise with design teams to resolve
• Support planning, sequencing, and scheduling of mechanical works
• Contribute to procurement strategy and manage supply chain performance
• Implement value engineering solutions to improve cost efficiency and constructability
• Report on progress, risks, and performance to senior management

About You

• Strong background in mechanical building services including HVAC, pipework, plant, and utilities
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Lead or Senior Mechanical Engineer on large-scale construction or data centre projects
• Experience delivering MEP packages on high-value, complex builds
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and programme management
• Commercial awareness with the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities
• Excellent leadership and team management skills
• Strong communication and coordination ability across multidisciplinary teams
• Detail-focused with a strong commitment to quality and safety
