The Role: Mechanical Lead
Based in Skellefteå, Sweden, the Mechanical Lead will take ownership of all mechanical construction activities on a large-scale data centre project from installation through to commissioning and handover.
Reporting to the Project Director and working closely with the MEP team, planners, commercial managers, subcontractors, consultants, and client representatives, the Mechanical Lead will ensure mechanical systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme requirements.
The successful candidate will lead mechanical subcontractors, manage installation sequencing, coordinate technical issues, oversee QA/QC processes, and drive programme delivery across all mechanical packages including HVAC systems, chilled water systems, pipework, ventilation, and associated building services.
This is a senior leadership role requiring strong technical knowledge, proven mechanical construction experience, and the ability to manage large site teams on complex mission-critical projects.
Must Have Requirements
You will be an experienced Mechanical Lead, Mechanical Project Manager, Mechanical Construction Manager, or Senior Building Services Engineer with a strong track record delivering complex mechanical packages on major construction projects.
You will possess excellent technical knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical plant, pipework installations, commissioning processes, and programme delivery. You will be comfortable leading large subcontractor teams while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
Strong communication skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple work fronts simultaneously are essential for success in this role.

Must Have Requirements
- Must have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum 7 years' experience within mechanical construction, building services, or MEP project delivery
- Proven experience required managing mechanical packages on large-scale construction projects
- Strong experience overseeing HVAC, piping, chilled water, and associated mechanical systems
- Proven ability to lead subcontractors and multidisciplinary construction teams
- Data centre project experience preferred
- Pharmaceutical, semiconductor, industrial, or mission-critical project experience beneficial
- Experience managing mechanical commissioning activities
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and programme management
- Experience working on large-scale European construction projects advantageous
- BIM coordination experience
- Knowledge of digital construction platforms
- Commissioning management experience
- Additional mechanical or project management certifications
- Lead all mechanical construction activities throughout the project lifecycle
- Manage mechanical subcontractor performance, manpower planning, and resource allocation
- Coordinate mechanical installation works in line with programme milestones
- Ensure mechanical works are completed safely and in compliance with company procedures
- Drive health and safety standards across all mechanical activities on site
- Review technical submissions, drawings, specifications, and construction information
- Coordinate with consultants, design teams, and project stakeholders
- Implement and maintain QA/QC procedures across mechanical packages
- Monitor progress and prepare reports for senior management
- Attend site coordination meetings, planning meetings, engineering reviews, and commercial meetings
- Support commercial teams with variation management and cost control
- Identify and resolve technical, design, and coordination issues
- Oversee mechanical commissioning activities and project handover requirements
- Manage snagging activities and ensure timely close-out of mechanical systems
- Ensure all subcontractor documentation and safety records are maintained and updated
