Job Title: Mechanical Estimator Data Centre Construction

€75,000 to €95,000 DOE plus package
The Company
Your new company are a specialist data centre contractor delivering large scale, mission critical projects across Ireland and mainland Europe. Operating from a Dublin head office, they provide full turnkey solutions from early design through to construction and commissioning on high value technical builds.
With a strong pipeline of hyperscale data centre projects and continued expansion across Europe, they have built a reputation for quality, precision and programme certainty in complex mechanical and electrical environments. Their estimating team plays a central role in securing and shaping these major projects.
The Role – Mechanical Estimator
Based in Ballymount and reporting to the Estimating Director, the Mechanical Estimator will take ownership of mechanical tender packages for high value data centre construction projects.
You will be responsible for preparing detailed mechanical cost estimates from drawings and specifications, coordinating with CSA and Electrical Estimators, and engaging with Irish and European subcontractors and suppliers. This is a key pre construction role with direct exposure to senior leadership and board level presentations.
Accuracy, commercial awareness and the ability to identify project risks at tender stage are critical to success in this position.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare detailed mechanical estimates from drawings, specifications and tender documentation
• Produce pricing documents and manage take offs and quantities
• Analyse and compare subcontractor and supplier quotations using structured cost comparison tools
• Oversee mechanical pricing elements from Irish and European subcontractors
• Identify commercial and technical risks within tender submissions
• Present completed estimates to the Estimating Director and senior leadership team
• Assist in maintaining and developing the internal cost database
• Coordinate with CSA and Electrical Estimators to ensure fully integrated submissions
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating procedures and quality control
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key subcontractors, suppliers and consultants
• Mentor and support junior estimating team members
About You
• Minimum 4 years experience in a mechanical estimating, mechanical quantity surveying or mechanical contracting role
• Background in mechanical services, building services, HVAC or data centre construction
• Experience preparing mechanical tender documentation and subcontract packages
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and cost analysis tools
• Experience using Buildsoft, CostX or similar quantity surveying software
• Understanding of FIDIC contracts is desirable
• Commercially astute with strong attention to detail
• Ability to identify project risks and price accordingly
• High standards in quality, accuracy and safety compliance
• Confident communicator comfortable presenting to senior management
