Mechanical Design Engineer Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Proven track record (3–7+ years) in mechanical design within sectors such as water/wastewater, process industries, infrastructure, or MEICA frameworks.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks), and ideally experience with hydraulics-related or process simulation platforms.
- Familiarity with fabricating mechanical systems and liaising with fabrication workshops.
- Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities to interface across multidisciplinary design, construction, and operational teams.
- Demonstrated knowledge of design for constructability, value engineering, and life?cycle considerations.
- Commitment to health, safety, environmental stewardship, quality control, and sustainability.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer:
- Develop and refine mechanical design concepts and detailed engineering deliverables, including pumps, pipe systems, chemical dosing, storage tanks, sludge treatment systems, platforms, platforms, and structural elements
- Collaborate closely with civil, process, electrical, automation, and structural teams to ensure cohesive and constructible designs
- Conduct buildability reviews, value?engineering initiatives, and propose alternative mechanical solutions to optimize efficiency, cost, and performance
- Engage with fabrication processes for in?house components (e.g., frames, temporary works, tunnelling spiders), ensuring design feasibility through collaborative liaison with fabrication and site installation teams
- Support commissioning activities and participate in operational readiness planning for mechanical systems during handover phases.
- Incorporate sustainability and energy efficiency principles, aligned with the company’s commitment to climate-conscious technology and Science Based Targets (SBTi) for net-zero emissions.
- Ensure designs conform to relevant codes, standards, and ISO-aligned quality, safety, environmental, and energy management systems.
