The successful Mechanical Construction Manager will join a major data centre project in Skellefteå, Sweden, working as part of an experienced international delivery team.

The Role: Mechanical Construction Manager

Based in Skellefteå, Sweden, the Mechanical Construction Manager will take responsibility for the delivery of all mechanical works on a large-scale data centre project.

You will oversee mechanical subcontractors, manage programme delivery, coordinate with the wider construction team and ensure all HVAC, pipework and associated mechanical services are installed safely, efficiently and in line with project specifications.

Reporting to senior project leadership, you will play a key role in ensuring quality, safety, programme and commissioning milestones are achieved throughout the project lifecycle.

Must Have Requirements

  • Must have 8 years' experience within mechanical construction and site management
  • Proven experience required managing HVAC, mechanical pipework and building services installations on large construction projects
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline required
  • Proven experience required managing mechanical subcontractors through construction and commissioning phases
  • Experience with a main contractor or specialist mechanical contractor on major projects is required
Preferred Experience

  • Data centre project experience preferred
  • Pharmaceutical, industrial or mission-critical project experience beneficial
  • Experience working on large-scale European construction projects
  • Knowledge of commissioning and handover processes
  • Experience using digital construction management systems
Nice to Have

  • Previous overseas project experience
  • BIM coordination experience
  • Additional health and safety qualifications
  • Mechanical commissioning experience
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all mechanical construction activities across the project lifecycle
  • Coordinate mechanical subcontractors to ensure programme targets are achieved
  • Oversee HVAC, chilled water, heating, pipework and associated mechanical systems installation
  • Ensure QA/QC procedures are implemented and maintained throughout construction
  • Review technical drawings, specifications and mechanical submittals
  • Coordinate with planners, project managers, consultants and design teams
  • Lead mechanical progress meetings and technical coordination meetings
  • Monitor labour levels, productivity and subcontractor performance
  • Track variations and support the commercial team with cost control activities
  • Drive health and safety standards across all mechanical works
  • Manage snagging, testing, commissioning and final handover activities
  • Produce progress reports for senior management and project stakeholders
About You

  • You have a strong background in mechanical construction management on large-scale projects
  • You understand programme delivery, construction sequencing and mechanical coordination
  • You can manage multiple subcontractors while maintaining quality and safety standards
  • You are commercially aware and capable of identifying project risks and opportunities
  • You possess excellent communication and leadership skills
  • You are comfortable working within a fast-moving data centre construction environment
  • You take ownership of project delivery and consistently drive performance on site
