The Company
This established Irish main contractor has built an excellent reputation for delivering complex civil engineering and water infrastructure projects throughout Ireland. With a strong order book and long-term framework agreements, they continue to invest in experienced Health & Safety professionals to support major infrastructure developments.
Their current project in County Limerick is a €32 million upgrade to an operational wastewater treatment plant, delivering essential improvements to public infrastructure while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
The Role: Health & Safety Advisor
Based full-time on site in County Limerick, you will support the Project Manager and senior management team in maintaining an exceptional safety culture throughout the delivery of this major wastewater treatment plant upgrade.
The project includes the construction of a new 4,500m³ stormwater storage tank, new primary treatment filters and lifting pumps, a new primary sludge holding tank, upgrades to the secondary treatment process, and significant improvements to sludge treatment facilities. Working in a live operational environment, you will ensure all works are completed safely while maintaining full compliance with Irish health and safety legislation.
Must Have Requirements:
You are an experienced Health & Safety Advisor who enjoys being present on site and working closely with construction teams to maintain high safety standards. You are confident communicating with subcontractors, engineers and management while ensuring projects remain compliant in challenging live environments.
Previous experience on water infrastructure, wastewater treatment, utilities or civil engineering projects will allow you to contribute immediately to this major County Limerick development.

The Role: Health & Safety Advisor

Must Have Requirements:
- Must have 4+ years' experience in a Health & Safety Advisor role within construction or civil engineering.
- Experience on water, wastewater, utilities, heavy civil engineering or process plant projects is required.
- Relevant Health & Safety qualification with a strong understanding of Irish health and safety legislation.
- Proven experience carrying out site inspections, audits, risk assessments and accident investigations.
- Full driving licence.
- Experience working on live operational sites.
- Knowledge of environmental and wastewater treatment projects.
- Experience using digital safety management systems.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- IOSH or IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
- Temporary Works or confined space awareness.
- First Aid certification.
- Environmental management experience.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture across the wastewater treatment plant project.
- Carry out regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
- Prepare and review RAMS, permits and safety documentation.
- Work closely with site management, engineers and subcontractors to ensure safe systems of work are maintained.
- Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and ongoing safety training.
- Investigate incidents, near misses and non-conformances while implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and all relevant Irish Health & Safety legislation.
- Produce accurate safety reports and maintain project documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the project.
