N69 Listowel Bypass, Listowel, Co Kerry

Project Value:     €32  Million

Key Facts so far:

Work on the Listowel Bypass is expected to start in March 2020.

The site investigation contractor is on site and scheduled to finish by the end of the year.

The council says the note of entry was served on all landowners on the 25th of September, and land acquisition negotiations are on-going.

Tendering for the main design and build contract will start next year.

Construction is likely to last between 18 and 24 months.

The bypass will comprise 3.65km of new road construction to the west of the town as well as the upgrade of 2.3km of the John B Keane Road.

The scheme will most likely comprise a standard 2 lane single carriageway cross-section.

The project will include three roundabouts, one bridge of the river Feale, a number of side-road realignments, junction upgrades as well as new bicycle and pedestrian provisions between the N69 at Billeragh and Caherdown roundabout at the junction with the Tarbert Road.

Kerry County Council believes the project is vital if the authority is to provide for the future development and expansion of the town, in terms of population and economy.
