Kildare is without a doubt the best county in Ireland and there is no argument against it

The east of the country is home to some of the nicest spots in Ireland and no more so than Kildare.

From relaxing places to visit to shopping in great outlets Kildare has everything and is no doubt the best county in the country.

1. Close to Dublin

Especially around this time of the year people tend to travel to the Big Smoke to do there shopping and everything else.

Living in somewhere like Naas can be perfect if you want to live away from the big city but also work and commute into Dublin.

2. Home of horse racing

Kildare is the home of Irish horse racing boasting both the Curragh racecourse and Punchestown.

The Curragh plays host to some of the best horses from around the world and some of the biggest races.

Punchestown also hosts some of Ireland's highest quality jump racing.

3. Kildare Village

Kildare Village is home to around 80 luxurious boutiques in a beautifully laid out small village.

Anya Hindmarch, Brooks Brothers, Cath Kidston, Furla, Joules, Lulu Guinness, Molton Brown are some of the well known brands there while there is also plenty of places to grab something nice to eat.

4. Mondello Park International Motor Racing Circuit

Ireland's only international motor racing circuit is in Kildare.

Mondello Park is an FIA licenced race track and has been in operation for almost 50 years now.

The uniqueness of this track is yet another reason why Kildare is the best.

5. Beautiful countryside

The countryside in Kildare is second to none with beautiful views everywhere and plenty of open spaces in which to roam.

Donadea Forest Park is one particularly beautiful spot with Burtown House and Gardens another great spot.

6. River Barrow

You can take boat trips down along the River Barrow to the scenic Grand Canal and take in the beauty of the area.

The river is very popular for boating while hiking takes place in the surrounding countryside.

7. Vibrant night life

The night life in Kildare is as good as it comes, there are plenty of pubs scattered around as well as some big night clubs.

Tigerly nightclub and Time are two of the best venues in the country and guarantee a good night.

8. Plenty of outdoor activities

Kildare is most definitely a great place for a family to go with a vast array of activities.

From Rapid Fire Paintball, Redhills Adventure and Base Entertainment Centre as well as many more places you will be spoilt for choice.

9. Great landmarks

Kildare has many landmarks and places of interests too check out if ever in the county.

St Patricks College in Maynooth is particularly picturesque while you also have Saint Brigids Cathedral and the Irish National Stud and Gardens.

All well worth a visit.

10. Historic museums

Kildare is full of historic sites, one being Castletown, the largest mansion in Ireland which is open daily with access via tour.

Other places including the Athy Heritage Centre Museum and The Kildare Gallery.

11. The K Club

The K Club in Straffan Co. Kildare is the most well known golf course in Ireland having hosted the Ryder Cup back in 2006.

It is also the home of a beautiful hotel and is situated in a lovely area in close proximity to the capital.
